WE & New Media

New media and Globalization
The new media has increased communication between people all over the world. The Internet has allowed people to express themselves through blogs, websites, pictures, and other user-generated media. The evolution of new media technologies is the result of globalization or vice versa. Globalization shortens the distance between people all over the world with the help of electronic communication. Some scholars and experts express this great development as the "death of distance". As an inhabitant of informational society we use words on screens to exchange pleasantries and argue, engage in intellectual discourse, conduct commerce, make plans, brainstorm, gossip, feud, fall in love, create a little high art and a lot of idle talk. Hence New media has the ability to connect like-minded others worldwide. New media follows the logic of the postindustrial or globalised society whereby 'every citizen can construct her own custom lifestyle and select her ideology from a large number of choices. Rather than pushing the same objects to a mass audience, marketing now tries to target each individual separately. Technological determinism is the main concept which can be counter attacked by scholars as soft determinism that 'Technology does not determine society”.  This newly formed media is responsible for a remarkable social change like trends in fashion and the emergence of subcultures such as Text Speak, Cyberpunk, and various others. We can see contribution of new media in less radical social movements such as Free Hugs Campaign, Using websites, blogs, and online videos to demonstrate the effectiveness of the movement itself. Marshall McLuhan’s global village is here proves to be accurate in case of New media and its interactivity.

Interactivity and new media

Interactivity is the prominent feature of new media, Internet replaces the "one-to-many" model of traditional mass communication with the possibility of a "many-to-many" web of communication. Digitalization of the media and media convergence are the ultimate outcome of new media is to Like. So, the new media with technology convergence shifts the model of mass communication, and radically shapes the ways we interact and communicate with one another. Interpersonal media as "one to one", Mass media as "one to many" and, finally New Media as Individuation Media or "many to many" is the newly formed model developed in the concluding part of 20th century. Interactivity can be considered as a central concept in understanding new media, but different media forms possess different degrees of interactivity, even some forms of digitized and converged media are not in fact interactive at all. Another new media example digital satellite television that uses digital compression to dramatically increase the number of television channels that can be delivered, and which changes the nature of what can be offered through the service, but does not transform the experience of television from the user’s point of view, as it lacks a more fully interactive dimension. It remains the case that interactivity is not an inherent characteristic of all new media technologies, unlike digitization and convergence. New Media changes continuously because it is constantly modified and redefined by the interaction between the creative use of the masses, emerging technology, cultural changes, etc.

World cup 2011—replica or real ?

The world CUP 2011—CONTROVERSY

There has been much ado regarding World cup 2011. Now the news spread that the World Cup that had been handed to the champions is the replica not the real. Though (ICC) The International Cricket Council has, however, rejected these allegations, saying the real Cup was handed to the champions. Contrary to some erroneous and mischievous media reports, the ICC can confirm the trophy presented to India at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday was the original. But in reality it may be something else. It has been suggested in the media that the original Cup is lying with the Customs department because of the non-payment of duty on the Cup. But they made me confused by hearing the exactly contradictory statement.

The original gold and silver Cup, valued $130,000.is in customs custody because the ICC failed to deposit the respective money.  But ICC is constantly arguing that Cup in the customs' custody is the "perpetual trophy" which being used for promotional purposes. They emphasizes their comment by saying that The trophy presented to India carries the specific event logo of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and has always been the cup that the 14 teams were playing for. However "The trophy seized by Mumbai customs is the promotional, perpetual trophy which remains in the keeping of ICC at its headquarters in Dubai. It carries the generic ICC corporate logo rather than the logo specific to the 2011 event. That trophy will be reclaimed today and will travel back to Dubai with ICC staff as was always intended.

Men in blue ---majestically proved themselves...

2nd April 2011 --- the proudest moment for all Indian’s, we are the eye-witness of history being made. The Men in blue conquered the battle and came out with flying colors. That spectacular evening demolishes the barrier between high and low, ordinary and extraordinary, significant and common. We all Indian had celebrated together Holi, Diwali and Eid on a single day. The occasion is nothing but the World Cup cricket Final against Sri-lanka.

India lost the toss and given to field first, team India were very confident and successfully checked runs at the beginning. 5 runs 6 runs 1 wicket was the graph of Indian strike baller Zaheer Khan in his first spell. But the situation was not like that till the end. Mahela Jayavardhana's extremely needed sixes and fours made Sri-lanka to reach in a surprisingly respectable fighting total 274…… 275 is really a tough score to chase that also in world of final. India lost their very important wicket of Shewag within a couple of second. Now the whole responsibility came automatically upon master blaster, he had to be brilliant, he had to be patient. But the almighty had scripted something else. Sachin was also sent to pavilions way by Malinga on 14. Oh My God!!! When the whole country was expecting the 100th century, Sachin Tendulkar had to leave the pitch on a very negligible score. It’s a real tough time when your opener (Shewag) could not able to contribute and made their way without opening the account.

But always there is a man who stood like a true gem to make you overcome from trails and tribulations. And the man is G-square (Gautam Gambhir). He smashed the M-squares of Lanka as Mallinga and the great Murlidharan. He made his unforgettable 97; hard luck so near to century but his contribution to team India will remain memorable in the cricket history and all Indian’s mind. The real hero of the match Gautam pulled India from that critical situation where Virat Koholi’s support is worth to mention. The young boy Virat made his enthusiastic 35 within a short while. Then came the turn of the skipper MSD, who was not in his true form. But he blessed with his form when Men in blue were in real need. He along with Yuvi had started showering sixes and fours and Sri-lankan’s scattered totally. That winning six by Dhoni was something fantabulous, that captured in all Indian’s mind and can never be rubbed. Sachin’s dream finally came into reality. His contribution all though out the matches is stupendous. All the team mates dedicated the cup to the God of cricket – Tendulkar…

Oh!!What a shot!! What a match!!! We all lucky Indian’s the onlooker of the match (history being made). We are the world champions. The cup is ours- the felling of once in a life time. The fans, supporters all walked out on road to rejoice in triumph. After 28 years long wait, we are finally claming our world cup.  India’s victory against Australia in quarter final, Pakistan in Semi final and finally Sri-lanka in final are some matches which are going to be fixed in all Indian’s heart. . It’s a real proud moment for Indian’s… hurrayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ….they majestically proved  “ve R da bst” ………
